How long will the certification be valid? Will there be re-training and re-certification requirements at some point?

For the Federal program, re-certification is required every 3 years for those individuals taking a training course with a course test and a hands-on assessment and every 5 years for individuals completing a training course with a proficiency test. Re-certification requires the successful completion of an accredited refresher course in the appropriate discipline. States and Indian Tribes that receive authorization to run their own programs may have slightly different re-certification requirements.
